Proyectos Monclova Gallery

Proyectos Monclova
Proyectos Monclova usually stages between six and ten major exhibitions every year. Many of them are groundbreaking.

Proyectos Monclova was established in 2005 as an experimental platform for emerging artists. Expanding and consolidating that program over the years, the gallery has evolved into one of the most important forums for contemporary art in Mexico. The emphasis on the dialogue between local and international artists of many different generations has grown to include some of the most groundbreaking, controversial, and intriguing exhibitions and conversations about the role, possibilities, and responsibilities of contemporary art.

In 2012 the gallery moved to a newly designed location in the Colonia Roma. Offering two big exhibition spaces and a fully equipped video room for large-scale cinematographic projections, artists get a more substantial architectural space to inhabit and the public gets heightened access to some of the most important work being done in the field.

Proyectos Monclova stages some 6 to 10 exhibitions every year. The public program presents talks, screenings and performances to enrich the overall conversation. The gallery also keeps up a thrifty publishing area that has released a number of important books and exhibition catalogues.  Their Facebook page keeps a pretty good running commentary on what is usually a pretty busy schedule.
