Below is a selection of the most important ancient and conquest-era sites in and around Mexico City. These are the essential Mexico City sites for those following the commemorations. Those who wish to learn more will enjoy visiting many of them.

Sites were selected by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City in order to facilitate your visit, and to make it easier to visit more of them. These have been part of the ongoing 700-year commemoration of the founding of Mexico - Tenochtitlan (1325) and the fall in 1521 to the Spanish armies.

There are some sites which are standards, but also some important surprises. All of them are in or very near to Mexico City. Many are actively participating in the commemorations this year, and over the next several years.
