The laNao Gallery is a new contemporary visual arts gallery in La Condesa. Billed as a platform for the development and professionalization of emerging contemporary art. The space encourages collections and provides a formal space for artists and curators. Since opening during the Zona Maco Art Week in 2021, the gallery has made quite a splash even in La Condesa’s relatively crowded arts scene.

The gallery began as part of the Cobertito artistic residency program. It was intended to meet the need to provide opportunities and advancement for emerging artists. With something of a focus on painting, the gallery’s not strict in terms of media presented. 3D works, photography, and mixed media works have all been presented in the past.

laNao provides formal spaces for production, exhibition, dissemination, sale, and analysis of work. With a formal gallery, the “production incubator” still includes the residency and a public program. With all that formality, the gallery still offers one of the most exciting scenes for younger artists. Openings are nearly guaranteed to be well attended, if not crowded in post-pandemic terms. The gallery’s also within easy walking distance of most of the best of the Hipodromo area. It’s less than three blocks west of the Parque México on the Avenida Michoacan.

Hours: Daily 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointment recommended.
