The Oasis Coyoacán shopping center is one of the city’s newest and most dynamic. Always happening in the laid-back and ultra-chic Coyoacán neighborhood, this one popped up on the already busy avenida de Miguel Ángel de Quevedo.
With about 150 merchants, many of them international brands, it was, upon opening, a major leap forward for Coyoacán’s already deft sense of fashionability. Today everyone’s looking good.
The shopping center is situated just off the intersection of Miguel Ángel de Quevedo with also busy av. Universidad. So it’s a good stretch of commercially friendly city street. That said, not so long ago it seemed to be mostly an intersection of a few very big book stores. Today, the shopping center just serves to complement the highly literate neighborhood and its many passers-through. Strollers can come down through the neighborhood of Santa Catarina from the Viveros de Coyoacán, or from the metro, just get off at Metro Miguel Ángel de Quevedo. The shopping center is a quick walk from the Metro, and a good place to end up if you’re planning to explore further.
Something new and chic and shiny can be a welcome relief if you’ve been touring Coyoacán’s richly-layered history.
